Vacancy on the Kirkland School Board

posted May 16, 2018, 3:41 PM by Michelle Perey

NEWS RELEASE – FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Yavapai County School Superintendent Tim Carter has announced a vacancy on the Kirkland Elementary School District Governing Board, due to the resignation of Mrs. Cathi Cobey. In her letter of resignation, Mrs. Cobey did not give a specific reason, except to mention that since there were other willing and interested people in the community, it was time for her to retire. “Mrs. Cobey’s service to the school district is appreciated”, Carter said.

Because of the proximity of this vacancy to the filing deadline for the upcoming November Governing Board elections, Mr. Carter has determined that this vacancy will not be filled at this time.

Mr. Carter said, “Due to the timeline that filling this vacancy would require, it is in the best interest of all involved to wait until the nomination / election process is concluded to make an appointment. The appointment, expected to be in mid November after the canvass of election, will be of the non-incumbent candidate who receives the highest number of votes from the voters.
