Dear Kirkland Parents/Guardians

I hope this letter finds you enjoying summer and the summer rains that have begun to fall!  With vacation quickly winding down and our staff and students heading back to school in less than one month, I wanted to take this opportunity to provide registration details for Kirkland Elementary School.

First of all, I am very excited to remind everyone that Kirkland School will be offering a full program for students in kindergarten through eighth grade. In addition, we will continue to offer preschool to district residents as well as open enrollment students. We have worked this summer to upgrade our 5th-8th grade programs with a brand new science lab and a blocked schedule which will enrich student academics by utilizing teacher strengths. As in the past, all students at Kirkland School are provide a lunch daily-free of charge. Classroom teachers will provide snack details appropriate to each grade.

In addition, our daily schedule has been altered slightly to allow all students to be on the same track. Kirkland students, kindergarten-8th grade, will begin each school day at 7:50 am and dismiss at 3:20 PM- Monday through Thursday. We will continue to run a late bus at 4:15 pm Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays to ensure students staying for athletic practices and/or Homework Club have an opportunity to participate. That late bus drops students at the Wilhoit Store at 4:40 pm. Kirkland School and office is closed on Fridays.

One final scheduling change for the new year is our expanded Pre School Program. Beginning this August students who are four years old can enroll for our 4 day per week program. This program begins each morning at 7:50 and will dismiss after lunch at 11 am. As in the past, students attending preschool may ride the school bus in the morning but must be picked up at 11 each day.

Registration for our PreK-8th grade students will be held on Monday, July 28th, 2014 in the Multi-Purpose room from 8 am until noon. Returning students only need parents to complete the enrollment forms. Students new to the Kirkland District should come to registration with a copy of their birth certificate as well as immunization records. Classroom supply lists will be available at registration.
